Barbicide is a disinfectant solution used by barbers and cosmetologists for disinfecting grooming tools such as combs and hair-cutting shears. Manufactured by King Research, it was invented in 1947 by Maurice King and marketed heavily around the United States by his brother James.

Most clipper cooling sprays dissipate the heat from the blades and also disinfect and lubricate your clipper, all at the same time. The Andis Cool Care Plus 5-in-1 clipper spray is an excellent example of a cooling spray that disinfects, lubricates, cleans, and prevents your blades from rusting.

To protect your clients, cleaning your clippers is a must. Between every client you must clean hair clippers. Use a small brush to remove any leftover hair. Then use a disinfectant spray, such as Clippercide or Andis cool care to disinfect and lubricate your clipper blades.

Barbicide is the most commonly recognised sanitising solution and is used to clean and disinfect your tools. To dilute the solution concentrate, similar to how you would dilute squash, mix one part Barbicide to eight parts water. The solution needs replacing daily.
